stampede style

Along with the rest of Calgary, I’ve been busy celebrating Stampede over the past week and will continue until July 15! While I incorporate Western-style into my wardrobe every so often (I love denim and chambray tops) I can’t say that I’ve ever gone full-out Western for Stampede since I was a kid. Even then I am sure I had a total 90s vibe happening at the same time.

I like my Stampede looks to be relatively Western but with my own spin on it – a girly spin. On Saturday I wore an aqua polkadot dress with neutral sandals that had tiny bows on them. Thrown together with a vintage leather purse and my jean jacket (and messy summer curls) I was good to go.

I am heading off to another big concert on Wednesday evening. The Tragically Hip are headlining and it is a HUGE party. I pulled together the looks above as my ideal outfit for a Stampede night out. I love the pretty red high-low dress with its fiesta flare. Pull on the dotted chambray top (just managed to snag one thanks to a new friend at Gap!) – maybe even knot it at the waist. Cute sandals and a vintage style cowboy hat pull the look together while a quirky bolo tie makes a bold statement as a necklace. Yeehaw!
