Inspired: Intimate Apparel + Giveaway

Last Thursday I attended Blogger Night at Alberta Theatre Projects. I was invited (along with Byron as my guest) to see the preview of Intimate Apparela heart-wrenching production about a young African-American seamstress (Esther) who whips up stunning pieces of intimate apparel for her clients: well-to-do white women. Her unique inner circle of “friends” includes the laidback piano-playing gal-about-town Mayme, the trying-to-be-upright Mrs. Van Buren, the adorably passionate Jewish fabric dealer, the loving and motherly Mrs. Dickson and the mysterious man, George, writing her letters from Panama. The way Esther interacts with each one of these characters and how she touches each of their lives expresses the power of love surpasses any issues of race, religion or class.

A truly inspiring play – with plenty of laughs and tears along the way.

I would love to give you the opportunity to see the play yourself and ATP has kindly passed along two tickets to the show on October 23, 2012 at 7:30pm.

I love that the theater always surprises me. There is a real art to live shows… No one hides behind special effects and editing.

  2. Laura Mj

I love live theater because no two performances are exactly the same. Each night the actors and the audience experience something unique together.

  3. Laina

I love live theatre because it’s exciting and you never know what you’re going to get! Actors who perform in live theatre are so talented, I love watcthing them :)

  4. Kay

I LOVE live theatre because it pulls you in makes you see things differently and feel emotions you didn’t even know you had. Every time I go, I fall in love. I’m a theatre hussy!

  5. Jessica Lee

I love live theatre because it’s all about being in the moment. It’s about getting that immediate feedback from the audience; whether it’d be laughing, gasps, or crying you get that energy from a crowd and that’s what fuels the performance. What you see is what you get, it’s so raw. Nothing is edited, whatever happens, happens and every performance is different because of that.

  6. My apologies, I THINK I accidentally gave you the wrong email above. I’ll attach the correct on here.

I recently began to indulge myself in theatre and live performances because of my love for the arts in Calgary. I never knew we had such a talented community of individuals who could inspire others through their words and acting. Watching live theatre is captivating to me, as I take time out of my busy life and immerse myself in a whole other world for those few precious hours. It’s the actors and actresses, the stage design, the music, the characters and their stories that move me. It’s what makes me love live theatre even more every time.
