Temple St Clair

templestclair

The amazing jewellery designer Temple St Clair is making a personal appearance at Holt Renfrew Calgary on April 24th and I couldn’t be more excited that she is making a stop in our city. These stunning baubles are just so glamourous and are begging to be worn with a luxe sundress on a patio in the sun. While they are bit out of my price range, I can’t help but dream about draping that 6os-inspired coloured bracelet over my wrist.

You can book appointments now to meet with Temple St. Clair Carr and shop her special collection of trunk show pieces. This is such a great opportunity to meet an inspiring designer who truly knows her way around gold. Email Mina to book your private styling consultation. Go for lunch at Cucina across the street beforehand make it one of those *ladies who lunch* kind of days.

Spring Style with eBay Canada

A sailor is an artist whose medium is the wind.- Webb Chiles

eBayCanada_Inspiration_copy

Stripes, anchors, dots, rolled hems and gold accents. I can’t stop think about nautical elements and how I am going to incorporate them into my spring wardrobe. Today I am featured on eBay Canada’s Fashion Pages sharing some of my favourite pieces for spring. The weather has finally turned around in Calgary and we’ve got some warm winds coming through making it perfect for cropped pants and NO SOCKS!

My look was completely inspired by preppy girls on boats, sailor garb and the Teddy Girl movement of the late 1950s. I love their effortless and casual style – a few menswear-esque pieces paired with ultra-feminine makeup and soft wavy hair. Let’s just say, you can’t go wrong with the red, white and blue combo as you welcome in the spring. Just don’t forget to throw in some beautiful gold pieces of jewellery to glam it up a bit.

Bon Voyage!

Can’t Wait To Meet You Neighbour, Target!

biker

Like any self-respecting shopaholic, I am counting down the days until Target opens in Calgary. Yes, Target – the beautiful and wonderful red&white department store that fashionistas and interior decor lovers alike flock to any chance they get while in the US of A, has arrived within our scenic Canadian borders. The first three pilot stores just opened today in Ontario and I am already so jealous of those lucky shoppers. I’ve been hearing rumours that the store closet to me, Chinook Centre will open later this month or early April. You will honestly see me in there on the very first day. Call me a consumerist but I love me a good deal and handful of beautiful products.

Here are some of the great products and brands we can expect to see in our soon-to-be-opened stores.

And with that, I will leave you with this darling video Target released during the Oscars last week featuring Canadian favourites, Dragonette singing a sweet song about being neighbours.

It’s a Mad Mad World

BR Mad Men 1

It feels like an awfully long time since I last watched Mad Men. Too be honest, I was losing interest until I saw these photographs today from Banana Republic. Their Mad Men collection is back with a fabulously late-60s vibe! A collaboration with the Emmy Award-winning Costume Designer for Mad Men, Janie Bryant, the collection is deliciously late 60s. The bright popsicle hues paired with op art geometrics has got me ready and reeling for the next season of MM. Inspired by Megan Draper (Canadian-born actress, Jessica Pare) and modeled by the fab Coco Rocha, I can already tell this collection is a winner. It launches in stores on February 27th while the show’s premiere is slated for April 7th.

Spring can’t come soon enough.

adventures with ivivva athletica

IMG_6287

If only Lululemon and Ivivva Athletica had been around when I was experiencing daily woes over my junior high gym strip. Honestly, with hardly any options to step it up a notch from the thin shapeless t-shirt and itchy blue shorts – it was hard to be inspired to participate in group activities in gym class let alone build up a love of exercising. Instead, most of the class was spent feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable. Now that there is so much great fitness gear out there, I feel perfectly happy going to the gym loving my outfit and feeling secure and comfortable in the excellently tailored garments.

IMG_6286

I recently was asked by Ivivva Athletica (Lululemon’s junior counterpart) to bring my teen friend, Bri in for a custom experience in the store. Bri is a dancer and also participates in a lot of other activities like yoga so this opportunity to get pick out some cute new outfits was greatly appreciated by her. The helpful staff started pulling all sorts of great pieces from their collection but we soon realized that Bri loves neutrals and basics! No purple or sparkles for this girl! She picked out some great pieces including a couple pairs of reversible yoga pants and leggings as well as some comfy workout shirts – also reversible.

I love how the store promotes health, exercise and good body image. In the change room area there is a fun runway area with a big mirror, so the girls can come out and strut their stuff! Like any form-fitting gear, sometimes you just don’t want to come out of the change room. Amazingly, Ivivva has thought about instances like this – they have a ‘Mom Window’ at the top of the change room door so your Mom can slide it open and give the final yay-or-nay on that new dance leotard! Perfect for the shy girls out there. Not only that but Ivivva and Lululemon often carry some of the same products

Bri ended up leaving feeling so uplifted and excited about wearing her new clothing to her next dance practice – I think that is how shopping for this kind of stuff should be. The importance is on what looks and feels great and fills you with confidence to push your body to the limit!

tiffany’s holiday luncheon

Details are everything.

I was so elated to attend the  holiday-themed Tiffany & Co. luncheon last Thursday. Bloggers and members of the media were invited to attend a lovely afternoon lunch at the award-winning Model Milk (recently named top 10 new restaurants in Canada in enRoute magazine) with Elizabeth Hellebrand of Tiffany & Co.! It was so lovely to sit down for a stunning menu with some new and old faces. Of course, details are everything to Tiffany’s as well – the dining room was dotted with perfect white roses, beautifully wrapped Tiffany’s coffee table books, right down to the selection of wines and the hand-typed menus.

While this Tiffany’s get-together didn’t have multi-thousand dollar rings sitting at our place settings like the Breakfast I recently attended – Elizabeth shared an exciting tidbit that Tiffany’s had created the jewelery for the upcoming holiday release of Baz Lurhman’s (of Moulin Rouge fame) adaptation of The Great Gatsby! Scroll down to watch the fabulous trailor that is absolutely stunning with the costuming, decor and music – per usual for Lurhman!
