August 14 marked the day of our first anniversary. Hard to believe a year ago we were busy as bees getting things ready for the wedding and having the most beautiful day of our lives together. Pretty cool. Anyways, we started our morning taking a bus up to Capitol Hill to explore the cool and trendy neighbourhood. We checked out a classy brunch joint that had a great buffet and indulged in great scrambled eggs with an incredible fresh salsa. Not long after we stumbled upon a farmers market parked along a city block. What fabulous planning – just set up straight on the sidewalks, tons of fresh produce and delicious snacks. Even some great live music. It was packed and it was great to see a market so bustling.
As we kept exploring we came across an exquisite coffee shop called Victrola Coffee. Absolutely beautiful inside and delicious coffee. Had to come home with a bag of beans. Yum. Being the great walkers we are (you’ve gotta walk a lot if you plan on eating ice cream everyday of your vacation!) we walked all the way from Capitol Hill into Downtown Seattle and made our way to the harbour again. Since it was our anniversary we decided to treat ourselves to some sushi and oysters in a swanky restaurant we found with a view of the harbour. It was delicious. If only we knew then what incredibly huge oysters we would be eating in only a few days. After dinner we decided to take a Harbour Cruise Tour which was so worth the $11 each! It was beautiful to be out on the water seeing the amazing Seattle skyline from our little cruise ship. The architecture there is really quite stunning. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the city — you get to see so many famous places and learn a bit more about the history of Seattle. It was the perfect ending to the perfect celebration of the perfect wedding day.
