Happy Halloween – almost! I stopped by Global Calgary yesterday morning to chat all things handmade and Halloween from Etsy Canada! There are some seriously talented makers in Alberta and B.C. and I was so excited to showcase some of them on the air. and I’ve listed all of the products below with links to purchase! From chic goodies for the home to cute stuff for your little trick-or-treaters, Etsy is an amazing place to find just about everything!
Westwick Candle Co. (Langley, BC) – Julie Heichert hand makes each candle and adds pumpkin spice fragrance to soy way. The geometric print on each candle is part of a photograph taken by her sister, Nichole. To transfer the image, Julie prints the photo onto tissue paper and then uses heat to transfer the image to each candle. $15 each.
White Owl Ceramic Studio (Calgary) – Laura Sharp uses Mishima, a slip inlay technique to create this vase, $65. To show the carved areas of the owl, Laura places black glaze inside the carved markings that she makes before firing. She uses a contrasting white background to exaggerate the outline of the owl.
Triangle Trees (Guelph, ON) – This tote bag by Gillian Wilson is wonderful for trick-or-treating. The 7-ounce cotton tote is sturdy and the 25-inch handles make it comfortable to use. The images are water-based, screen-printed by hand, and then heat set, $15.

NounCatalogue (Stayner, ON) – Sabrina Parish silkscreens her own illustration onto this card made from cotton paper and water based pigment. This is the perfect Halloween card! Each card comes with a kraft paper envelope. $5.50.
William Rae Designs (Edmonton) – This rustic centerpiece is made from reclaimed wood, burlap, and repurposed mason jars, $46.41. The stain and paint colours can be customized. Courtney Hanak and her husband Fraser hand make every piece to order and their Etsy shop specializes in wooden furniture.
Paper and Parties Co. (Langley BC) – Made by Michelle Kendall, these glittery pumpkin place cards are hand made out of glittered cardstock and are they perfect addition to any Halloween dinner party, $10 for 10 place cards.

Peanut Butter and Glam (Raymond, AB) – Jen Wegwitz hand made this “Keep Calm and Hunt On” pillow out of black burlap and cotton twill. Jen makes the pillowcase in an envelope style and then uses a stencil to apply acrylic paint and glitter. The pillow is inspired by a chalkboard, giving a shabby-chic look, $27.75.
Also from Paper and Parties Co., this banner is made using a precision cutter, $20. Drape it against any wall to make a statement. Michelle is happy to create custom pieces for any event.
Nerdy Lama (Calgary) – Keep your hands comfortable and your drink warm with this crochet cat cup sleeve. Rachel Thibeault uses medium gage yarn and 5-millimeter crochet hooks to create this piece. Rachel happy to customize this item in a selection of colours, $16.24.
Khaos Theory Art (Red Deer, AB) – Brent Klassen and his fiancé specialize in handmade leather goods. They made this Snowy Owl mask out of vegetable tanned cowhide, $70. Each mask is handmade, ensuring that your mask will be one of a kind.

Silent Magpie Woodcrafts by Terri Watts (Edmonton) – This “Out of Candy” sign is made with pine and it is hand painted, $20. Hang it on your door to greet your guests and trick-or-treaters!
Cakeadoodledoo (Calgary) – These cupcake wrappers are hand assembled by Tricia who uses a digital plotter to shape the individual pieces of the card stock that she then glues together, $24 for 12.
Also from Cakeadoodledoo, these Dracula, Frankenstein and bat party favour boxes are made from sturdy 45-pound cardstock and constructed using the same process as her cupcake wrappers, $2 each. Tricia makes party accessories for all occasions.
Twisting Fibers (Calgary) – The Frankenstein ($20.88) and Kitty ($23.20) toques are made by Michelle Young who uses acrylic yarn to crochet. By using acrylic yarn these toques are made with no animal byproducts and they are suitable for children with allergies and sensitivities to wool.
Underducks (Calgary) – To make these adorable baby onesies, Karey stitches the appliques onto pre-shrunk cotton onesies. The tutu is elasticated and has a ribbon so it can be tightened or loosened for the perfect fit. The tutu is removable for easy washing. Spooky ghost onesie, $15. Halloween tutu onesie, $22.
